Greater than intention...

The Quake bass was created to support a specific note on a specific occasion. Experimentation proved out a delicate balance between a myriad of factors that exceeded expectation.

Extremely long scale lengths were originally utilized to explore and facilitate tunings well below contemporary electric basses, and do it with the same tonal expectations traditional registers are held to. It worked very well.

As it turns out the Quake and its scale length benefit tradition registers as well.

The longer scale allows for greater string tension that has the feel of a traditionally scaled instrument. The higher tension and lighter gauges provide a higher harmonic content and greater natural depth at the same time. More sound and greater depth from a thinner string.

Time inspires, and with it I have added to the number of instruments I build. I intend for this to continue.
